Meet Our Incredible Dentist Near Lakeville
Dr. Derek Cornetta, DDS
Dr. Cornetta’s passion for dental care began somewhat early in life when he saw the tremendously positive influence his own childhood dentist had on people’s lives. He witnessed how valuable it was to establish lasting relationships to help meet patients’ unique needs, and decided he wanted to pursue a career in dentistry.
Dr. Cornetta is originally from North Attleboro and began his education at the University of Connecticut. After graduating with his bachelor’s, he went on to earn a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) advanced degree from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. During this time, Dr. Corentta also earned membership into the Gamma Pi Delta Prosthodontic Honors Society, but he didn’t stop there!
Today, Dr. Cornetta is committed to continuing education and is pursuing Fellowship status in the Academy of General Dentistry. He’s also an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, so that he can remain current with contemporary treatments, trends, and technology.
When Dr. Cornetta is not in the office, you might find him enjoying his free time with his wife, Molly, and their three children: Max, Lily, and Leo. They enjoy spending time outside, and often enjoy visiting the park, zoo, or beach. He’s also a huge Boston sports fan- go Patriots!
Allie Martin, DMD
Dr. Martin is originally from Dartmouth, and is thrilled that she was able to pursue a career in dentistry in the same area where she grew up. Like Dr. Cornetta, she had an incredibly positive experience with her own childhood dentist, which inspired her to pursue a career in oral healthcare.
Dr. Martin graduated from Dartmouth High and then earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of South Carolina. From there, she returned to Massachusetts to achieve a Doctor of Dental Medicine at Boston University. Today, she is an active participant with several prestigious institutions, such as the American Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry, to continue to hone her knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Dr. Martin is passionate about taking the time to get to know her patients so that she can customize treatment plans to meet their unique needs. When she’s not at work saving smiles, she’s probably spending time her boyfriend watching movies, traveling to new destinations, and testing out all bar pizzas south of Boston. She also enjoys what she refers to as a ‘healthy addiction’ to reading!

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get emergency dental care near Lakeville?
The best way to get emergency dental care is to call our office directly. One of our team members will be able to get you scheduled for a prompt appointment, and we’re usually able to see emergency patients on a same-day basis. Our team will also walk you through any necessary first-aid steps over the phone to address any immediate concerns like bleeding or pain.
What do you do if you can't afford a dentist?
If you can’t afford a dentist, check your dental insurance benefits to see what they might cover or ask us about CareCredit financing.
The vast majority of dental insurance plans cover 100% of the costs for biannual checkups and cleanings, and cover other preventive and restorative services at around 50% to 80%. CareCredit, meanwhile, enables you to break your overall treatment costs down into smaller, more manageable monthly payments.
Both options can be a great way to save money on dental care, and we would be happy to help you navigate your dental insurance benefits or apply for CareCredit.
What advanced dental technology do you have near Lakeville?
Our dentists like to keep up with the latest dental technology, including digital X-rays, intraoral cameras, a digital impression system, and a soft tissue laser. All of these devices help improve the patient experience. Here’s an overview of how they can benefit you:
- All-digital X-rays mean less radiation and no need to wear a cumbersome protective vest. Plus, they’re more precise and accurate than traditional X-rays.
- Intraoral cameras allow you to see exactly what we see when we examine your mouth. They’re also generally more comfortable than other imaging devices like bitewing X-rays.
- A digital impression system enables us to take measurements of your mouth without using any weird gray goop.
- Soft tissue lasers replace traditional scalpels for gum treatments like periodontal therapy and gum recontouring. Since they instantly cauterize any tissue they come into contact with, soft tissue lasers improve recovery times, making them almost nonexistent.
How often should I visit the dentist?
We recommend scheduling regular checkup and cleaning appointments every six months, or twice per year.
Biannual checkups give us the opportunity to monitor your oral health and how it changes over time. If you develop concerning symptoms, we’ll be in a better position to treat the issue before it becomes more complicated, saving you time, money, and discomfort.
Biannual cleanings, meanwhile, allow us to remove stubborn plaque and tartar from your smile. These two substances are the hardened form of bacteria that cause gum disease and cavities and are almost impossible for your at-home toothbrush to eliminate.
Overall, routine checkups and cleanings significantly reduce your risk of harmful oral conditions and help keep your smile happy and healthy!
